Spelling of Ethiopian names

You may have noticed inconsistencies in the spelling of Ethiopian place names. Spelling is tricky with some Ethiopian names, because the locals use different spellings than what the English-speaking cartography world picks up. Alas, we used various spellings along the way, depending on whether we were working directly with our local partners or if we were back in USA writing up our notes. Sorry for the confusion and below are some of the place names, spelling variations, and Wikipedia links:

Debre Tabor: Deber Tabor, Dedre Tabor

Gondar: Gondor

Debre Sina: Debresena, Gebrsena, Debresenna
