Local families from Sarasota-Manatee VillageLearners enjoyed a guided walk to the Canopy Walkway at Myakka River State Park led by Dr. Margaret “CanopyMeg” Lowman. The children and their families learned about the history and importance of canopy walkways, similar projects around the world, and citizen science opportunities. The children were eager to ask questions, explore nature, learn about life in the trees, and climb to the top of the Walkway tower.
It was a great opportunity to listen to Dr. Lowman share her knowledge and interesting stories; she is a great inspiration to both adults and youth! Field trip donations collected will go to TREE Foundation to support tree research, exploration and education.
